Why My Approach to Numerology Is Different

Numerology has always been a place for me to find answers.  I had mine done 30 years ago and it provided me with indescribable comfort to read something that captured me so accurately.  To know that I was part of a larger plan and nothing in my life had been an accident.  After a life-changing Reiki session that resolved years of health issues and opened me intuitively, I felt called to revisit my Numerology.  I knew that I was moving into a Pinnacle 11 and a Period Cycle 22—both Master Numbers tied to profound spiritual evolution.  Even though these cycles were a few years away, I assumed everything I was going through was simply preparing me.

In traditional Numerology only 11,22,33 are considered Master Numbers.  Those are the only ones that you wouldn’t necessarily reduce when doing the math of Numerology.  I started to see double digits everywhere.  Clocks, license plates, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99.  All of them, all of the time.  I knew that I was being asked to dig deeper.

Starting with my own chart, I did the math manually for all of my numbers.  And I made some significant discoveries.  According to the app I was using, I was in a personal year 4.  When I did the math myself - I was actually in a personal year 22 - which is a Master Builder year.  Big energy.

When I did the math for my current Pinnacle Cycle of 5, I discovered that the full number before being reduced was 77 - which calls for spiritual awakening.  I wasn’t entering big spiritual phases, I was in it!

When I really started to look at all of the numbers in my chart and placing my core numbers into their own chart, I made even more discoveries.  I had Master Numbers woven throughout: 11 – The Spiritual Messenger ,22 – The Master Builder, 77 – The Spiritual Sage, 99 – The Universal Humanitarian.

The Rules That Make the Difference
Over time, my Spirit Team has given me a list of rules for when Master Numbers count—and when they don’t. For example: if a Master Number appears in your name chart but comes from an unused middle name, it doesn’t hold active weight. These nuances matter. Without them, interpretations can become inflated or misleading.

To support this work, I’ve built a spreadsheet that performs 99% of the calculations for me—yet every profile is finished by hand, guided by intuition, and filtered through these rules. This way, the Master Numbers in a chart aren’t just theoretical. They’re alive, contextual, and relevant to your lived experience.

The Bigger Truth About Master Numbers
Master Numbers are like Easter eggs buried within our charts. They hold enormous potential, but that potential isn’t automatically active. Many people carry Master Numbers in their numerology, but unless life circumstances, awareness, or soul readiness invite them forward, they can remain dormant—quiet energies waiting to be awakened.

When life is lived only “going through the motions,” Master Numbers often sit beneath the surface, influencing gently but not fully expressed. Activation comes when we choose to step into greater awareness—through challenge, healing, or conscious growth. That’s when their higher vibration becomes available, often surfacing through profound shifts in perspective, intuition, or purpose.

  • Not Activated: A Master Number may feel heavy, confusing, or overwhelming. It can collapse into its reduced digit (11 into 2, 22 into 4, 77 into 5, 99 into 9), showing up as the more everyday lessons of that number. This isn’t failure—it’s simply the soul working at a more foundational level.

  • Activated: When integrated with self-awareness, humility, and balance, Master Numbers open into their higher potential. They become channels for vision, healing, innovation, and service. Their energy feels purposeful rather than overwhelming, expansive rather than chaotic.

Activation isn’t about striving to “earn” these numbers—it’s about alignment. When you live consciously, listen inwardly, and make choices that honour your truth, the Master Numbers in your chart begin to shine. They reveal not just who you are, but who you are capable of becoming.

The Insight That Made Me Rethink It All

Basic numerology—whether through an app or a website—can offer insight into your core numbers. And that alone can be powerful. For a long time, I worked with those basics, sending readings to friends who were struggling with purpose or identity. Most of the time, what came back was resonance—relief, even. Like something had clicked into place. But everything shifted when a close friend received her profile. She was a Life Path 8, a number tied to leadership and material success. But the moment she read it, she felt a pit in her stomach. "This isn’t me," she said.

She wasn’t being avoidant or dismissive—she's one of the most self-aware people I know. A teacher by vocation, she isn’t interested in climbing the ladder or managing others. Her drive comes from loving kids for who they are and guiding them on their journey. She’s on the ground floor, doing the work of heart-centred service, and had always resonated with the more nurturing, humanitarian qualities of the numbers elsewhere in her chart.

I’m a Life Path 8 too—but my experience couldn’t have been more different. My career had been devoted to leadership, to developing others, to helping people grow toward success and fulfillment. I had lived the 8 energy in a textbook way. So how could she and I both be Life Path 8s? I needed to understand.

That’s when I turned to another friend’s chart—this time, a Life Path 9. He has a deep desire to help those less fortunate, but his chart is dominated by 7s, which reflect a need for solitude, internal processing, and deep thought. While his heart is drawn toward service, he often finds himself stuck in cycles of thinking rather than doing. And in contrast, my Life Path 8 friend—the one who didn’t resonate with her 8—was actively living the mission of the 9.

That comparison was the breakthrough. It became clear that her 8 energy wasn’t misplaced—it was providing the drive to fulfill the deeper calling of her chart. The ambition and tenacity of the 8 weren’t about status for her. They were tools to do the work of the humanitarian. And for my Life Path 9 friend, the absence of numbers like the 8 meant he could dream about helping others, but had less energetic support to put that mission into motion.

This is where my approach began to shift. I started interpreting core numbers through the lens of the Life Path—understanding how the surrounding numbers support, challenge, or redirect that central mission. A chart isn’t a collection of separate parts. It’s a team. And each number plays a role in helping you become more of who you already are.

Wait, There’s More!

I’ve had so many a-ha moments in this journey of building my own Numerology reference guide.  When it came to Arrows of Individuality, I learned that what is missing in a chart can be just as influential as the numbers that are there.  Certain patterns—or gaps—in the number grid can shape how we move through life just as much as the numbers we have. For example, someone born in 1985 has more digits available in their birthdate (1, 8, 5, 9) than someone born in 2000 (2).  But the person born in 2000 may have strong traits tied to what's absent—like indecision, emotional sensitivity, or unconventional thinking—depending on which arrows are missing. It’s not about having “more” or “less,” but about understanding the unique imprint those patterns leave behind.

There are so many intricacies in how numbers express themselves within a chart—and the Planes of Expression revealed another layer. When I first explored this section, the traditional layout didn’t sit right. It felt disconnected from how people actually experience their energy. So I restructured it—placing the Core Numbers into their respective categories: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. That simple shift allowed me to see which areas of life were most emphasized. Some charts are remarkably balanced, with energy spread across all four planes. Others show a strong tilt—toward thought, action, or emotion. And when I tested this with people I knew, it was undeniable. The charts matched the person.

When I was directed to the Diamond of Life—a system I had never even heard of before—I was truly blown away. It wasn’t just another layer of Numerology. It was proof. The timing of our experiences, the patterns we live through, even the letters of our name—it’s all too specific to be coincidence. I already resonated deeply with Numerology, but this took it to an entirely different level. The Diamond of Life revealed a soul-level design so intricate, so intentional, it left no doubt in my mind: we are being guided. Our names are no accident. Our timing is no accident. And this life? It’s not random—it’s a masterpiece in motion.
