SIX
Under-Expressed
What This Expression May Be Doing for You
The Six is connected with responsibility, care, service, relationships, harmony, and the desire to contribute to the well-being of others.

When the Six is under-expressed, responsibility for other people may feel burdensome, restrictive, or easier to avoid. You may hesitate to take on commitments that require sustained care, resist being depended on, or distance yourself when relationships or responsibilities begin to ask more of you. Protecting your own time, energy, or independence can feel more manageable than becoming responsible for something beyond yourself.

Responsibility can also bring expectations with it. Caring deeply means becoming invested. Commitment means other people may rely on you. Stepping into a supportive role can create the possibility of disappointing someone, being asked for more than you want to give, or losing yourself in what others need. Keeping some distance can protect against those possibilities, even when it also limits connection and contribution.

The work of the under-expressed Six isn't to become responsible for everyone or sacrifice yourself in the name of care. It's to develop a healthier relationship with responsibility and connection—learning that you can care, contribute, and allow yourself to be relied upon while still having needs, limits, and a life of your own.

When Responsibility Feels Like Losing Yourself
Taking responsibility for other people can feel risky when care and commitment seem to come with the expectation that your own needs will become less important. Learning to distinguish healthy responsibility from over-responsibility can make it easier to participate without feeling that caring requires self-sacrifice.

When Being Needed Feels Uncomfortable
Allowing someone to depend on you creates expectations and the possibility of disappointing them. Keeping some distance can reduce that pressure, but it can also limit how fully you participate in relationships and the ways you contribute to them.
Support:
→ Relational Responsibility
When Distance Protects You From Connection
Stepping back can feel safer when closeness brings emotional demands, vulnerability, or the possibility of being hurt. Understanding what the distance is protecting can help you decide when space genuinely serves you and when it is keeping you from the connection you want.

Chakra Support
Chakra meditations help clear and heal by bringing focused awareness to each energy centre. Through breath, intention, and visualization, these meditations release blockages, restore balance, and activate the natural flow of energy in the body—supporting emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

The following chakras may support a more balanced expression of these energies.

Root Chakra
Supports grounding, stability, and security, helping responsibility and commitment feel more manageable rather than something that threatens your independence or sense of safety.

-
Root Chakra Energy Healing / Clearing for Safety & Abundance - Susie Hemsted (Insight Timer)

Heart Chakra
Supports connection, compassion, and the ability to give and receive care while remaining open to deeper relationships.

Recommended meditations:

-
Loving Kindness (Metta) Meditation – Susie Hemsted (Insight Timer)
Although this meditation isn't focused on a specific chakra, it naturally supports the Heart Chakra by strengthening love and compassion for yourself and others.
While meditation is a wonderful way to support the chakras yourself, there may be times when you feel drawn to receive additional support. Reiki and other forms of energy healing can help restore balance and encourage the free flow of energy within these centres.

SIX
Over-Expressed
What This Expression May Be Doing for You
The Six is connected with responsibility, care, service, relationships, harmony, and the desire to contribute to the well-being of others.

When the Six is over-expressed, caring can become over-responsibility. You may take on more than is actually yours, feel responsible for how other people are doing, or step in quickly when someone is struggling. Being helpful, dependable, or needed can make it difficult to recognize when support has turned into carrying, fixing, managing, or preventing experiences that belong to someone else.

Responsibility can also become connected with worth. Being the person who remembers, helps, takes care of things, or holds everything together can provide a strong sense of purpose and value. This can make stepping back uncomfortable, particularly when doing less brings guilt, worry about disappointing someone, or uncertainty about what will happen if you don't intervene.
The work of the over-expressed Six isn't to care less or become less dependable. It's to develop balance within that care—recognizing what is genuinely yours to carry, allowing other people to take responsibility for what belongs to them, and making room for your own needs without treating them as less important than everyone else's.

When Caring Becomes Carrying
Wanting to support the people you care about can gradually turn into taking responsibility for their problems, feelings, choices, or outcomes. Learning to separate care from responsibility can help you remain supportive without carrying what belongs to someone else.
Support:
→ Finding Balance
When Being Needed Becomes Part of Your Value
Being dependable, helpful, or the person others can count on can become an important source of worth. When usefulness becomes connected with value, stepping back or allowing someone else to manage without you can feel much harder than it appears.
Support:
→ Cultivating Self-Worth
When Guilt Makes It Hard to Prioritize Yourself
Your own needs can begin to feel less important when meeting them creates inconvenience, disappointment, or discomfort for someone else. Guilt can make saying no or choosing yourself feel selfish even when what you're asking for is reasonable.
Support:
→ Finding Balance
→ Boundaries
When Helping Prevents Someone Else From Struggling
Stepping in can relieve the discomfort of watching someone struggle, make a mistake, or experience consequences. But helping can sometimes cross into preventing another person from having experiences that are theirs to navigate.
